Josephine Stella Stratychuk

It is with extreme sadness that the family of Josephine Stratychuk announce her sudden passing on October 13, 2021 after a brief non-COVID illness. Josephine was a loving mother, Baba (grandmother), great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her three daughters Shirley (Wayne Swanson), Della, and Barbie (Daren Lorentz), three grandchildren: Todd (Kyla) Swanson, Kayla Swanson, and Sawyer Lorentz, and one great-grandson, Callen Swanson. She also leaves one sister Pauline (Jake Jaman) and two sisters-in-law, Vera Stratychuk and Alice Kosik. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Mike in 2016. She was also predeceased by her sisters and brothers and their spouses Helen (Tony), Sophie (Casey), Annie (Pete), Emily (John), Frank (Susan), Pete (Ruby), John, and her parents Steve and Mary Kosik. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

The family thanks Dr. Bogash, Dr. Parrington, Dr. Rankin, and Dr. Low, as well as the nursing staff in unit 21 and all the various support staff at the Leduc Community Hospital who provided care for Josephine in her final days.

The funeral service is October 18, 2021 at St. Michael’s Catholic Parish in Leduc at 11:00 am. Due to COVID restrictions, please contact the family with your intentions to attend as there is limited attendance. Please join through Live Stream if you are able. The link is below on this page. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery after the mass.

In lieu of flowers, Josephine’s family asks for donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
