Cronin, (Judith Lea) Judy (nee Robertson) passed on from this life into the next August 10, 2016. She left the pain and suffering of her ALS behind and her spirit was lifted up as she was surrounded by love and her family.
Judy lived a full and varied life starting with being born in Lacombe, AB in 1953 and the Robertson family moved to Chetwynd, B.C. where Judy attended grades 1-12 and learned many valuable life lessons which served her well as she advanced along in her life.
Judy worked from the age of 14 right through to her retirement at 61. Her work ethic was impeccable and carried her through her working life with part time work at the Chetwynd Theatre, The Texaco Gas Station, & then at B.C. Forestry. Then into full time work starting at the County of Lacombe office, moving to Red Deer and working for the Provincial Court offices, then to Grande Prairie working for St. Joseph High School and then moving to Leduc and working for Christ the King High School and finishing off her working days at Edmonton Airports.
Judy and Joe were married in 1976 and had two children: Stephen & Shannon: who filled their lives and all who knew them with many shared family times and lots of camping holidays and hockey and swimming and bowling and all that goes along with raising a family!
Judy loved nature and provided the birds in her yard with many bird houses and lots of birdseed, she was a prolific flower gardener and filled her yard with beautiful flowers and shrubs that all who saw it enjoyed and envied. She loved Canadian artists and if she saw a painting that stirred her emotions she would buy it, have it beautifully matted, framed and hung in her home; which reflects her choices of art with elegance and a creative flair.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years; Joe and her two children: Stephen (Angie) & Shannon. She was a very proud Grandma to Drayden and Hudson. She also filled her life with the children of friends and neighbours who were near and dear to her. She was a sister to Trish Woods (Martin) and Cathy Mehle (Paul and an awesome Aunty to Kori, Ryan and Mitch and has numerous other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jane (Jim), and brothers-in-law Mike (Susan) and Pat (Shiho). Her family and friends remember her as a strong, determined woman with amazing resiliency to handle all that life put forward for her to handle in her time on this earth. We all watched in admiration and awe as she handled her final challenge of having ALS: Judy did not let the disease define who she was and she did not let it change her as a person.
For all those whose lives that Judy touched and influenced you are invited to join together at The Stone Barn Garden / Cultural Village located in the west end of William F. Lede Park, 4613 44 St., Leduc, AB, T9E 4C4. This will be an outdoor Memorial Service on Friday, August 26, 2016 starting at 1:30 p.m. to remember and celebrate Judy’s life.
In lieu of flowers we would ask that you make a Memorial donation in Judy’s name to the ALS Association by going to www.alsa.org/donate or calling 1-888-949-2577.
Judy and her family would like to say thank-you to any and all who extended a hand and a piece of their heart to them during Judy’s life with the ALS disease that she handled with such dignity.
