Arrangements under the direction of HainstockJUNIE A. (McFARQUHAR) DOLLING passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 25, 2017 after spending 103 plus years in a very active life. She was pre-deceased by her husband Cedric and her 4 sisters. She leaves three children, Jeannette (Donald) Skogstad, of Edmonton, Frank Dolling (Louise) of Sicamous, B.C. and Wanda (Earl) Wesa of Leduc, Alberta, seven grand-children , seven great grandchildren and one great-great grand child.
Junie grew up on a farm at Telfordville, Alta. She attended Garneau High School in Edmonton. With her husband Cedric, she bought and operated the Telfordville General Store and Post Office for 25 years in the 1950’s and 1960’s. She then handled the Rural Post Office route in the area for another 15 years before retiring and moving to Leduc with her husband. During her rural days, she was very involved in her United Church activities and a driving force in the local community. For many years she wrote a column for the Leduc Representative reporting on community events in the Telfordville valley and surrounding area. Music played a large role in her life. She was a self-taught piano and accordian player, sang in the church choir and later with the Telford Singers well into her nineties. She also participated in several Alberta Winter Games winning medals in her age category. She loved curling, bowling and golfing and played her last game of golf at age 96. Travelling throughout her life included many trips to the US, across Canada and Europe and a Caribbean cruise.
She was known by many, loved by all, and will be remembered forever.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Junie’s name to Rundle’s Mission Society.
Rest in Peace, Junie
