

Len attended High School at Lindsay Thurber Composite in Red Deer and during the summer of 1959, he landed a summer job at the Toronto Dominion Bank. The following year, he joined the Toronto Dominion Bank as a full-time employee and worked for them just short of 18 years. It was after his transfer to their Camrose Branch that he met his future wife Judy in 1966. They were married in September of 1967. They had three children, David, Darin and Katherine.
While living in Hinton, Len took a year off from banking but was approached in 1979 by ATB Financial to join their team. He retired from ATB in 1998 but quickly became bored. He decided that he might go out to the airport and drive cars for Budget for a couple of years, this part-time retirement job extended to 17 years.
Len loved golfing, played hockey as both a teenager and on a commercial league in Fort McMurray, and was a longtime Calgary Stampeders fan.
Len leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Judy of 56 years, sons David (Trina), Darin and daughter Katherine (Kelly) Steinke; 4 granddaughters and 5 great grandchildren. His brothers-in-law Gordon (Rosie) Ness and John (Maureen) Ness and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Marie Flewelling, brother Ron and nephew Todd, his wife’s parents Finn and Connie Ness, and grandson Nolyn Steinke.
Len passed away at the Royal Alex Hospital on Monday, October 16th, 2023. Donations may be made to Heart & Stroke, Peace Lutheran Church Leduc, or the charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to family and friends for their care and support during the last 2 ½ months.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday October 26, 2023 at 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church 4606 – 48a Street Leduc, AB
