We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Marilyn Edith Rylander on July 16th at 8:06 PM. Marilyn has now reunited with her beloved brothers: Tomas Rance, Jerry Rance, and Rodney Rance; Ronny Rance and her sister, Dorthy Murphy; her daughter, Sherri-Lynn Krock; and her son, Richard Rylander.
After the passing of her husband, Carl Edward Rylander, five years ago, Marilyn continued to live in their apartment with the support of family and some wonderful nurses. As her health declined and she became unable to walk, she moved to Salem Manor in Leduc at the onset of the pandemic.
Marilyn lived a life full of dedication and love. She worked as a school bus driver, proudly transporting her children and grandchildren over the decades. She cherished curling with Ed, spending summers at Pigeon Lake with her grandkids and friends, and playing Bingo. Despite facing numerous health challenges—including multiple sclerosis, diabetes, depression, and dementia—Marilyn lived a remarkable life until the age of 84.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Rylander; son, David Rylander; grandchildren, Jennifer Fisher, Christopher Krock, Erin Krock, Carl Rylander, Jamie Rylander; and great-grandchildren, Jonah Bommassar and Paige Fisher. With numerous other family members.
The last five years were filled with cherished memories. Marilyn shared stories, enjoyed fry dates, went on ice cream runs, took shopping trips to Walmart, walked around the lake, and had many cherished visits with her daughter, Vicki. Her wonderful spirit and witty, sarcastic humor were adored by the nurses and staff at Salem Manor.
At this time, no service is planned, as many of her friends and family have passed. However, we ask for donations in her name to the MS Society of Canada. Marilyn's spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
