Mary was born in Znatina, Czechoslovakia to Lazslo Liba and Julia Antal.
She came to Halifax, Canada by the ship “Montcalm”, then by train to Warburg, AB, then by horses to Genesee, arriving March 6, 1937. On July 20, 1939 she married Jim Vidok from the Funnell district, close to Breton, AB where they raised a family of four children. Her husband Jim passed away in 1970, soon after she sold the farm and bought a house in Warburg where she lived until 2012. She resided in the Cloverleaf Manor for three years.
Requiring more health care in 2015 she came to Extendicare Eaux Claires in Edmonton where she passed away.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth (John) Kugyelka, Ann Czobor,
Jim Vidok, and Leslie (Carolyn) Vidok; brother Zoltan (Barbara) Liba and sister-in-law Bonnie Liba; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and their families; several cousins in Hungary and Argentina and the family and relatives of her second husband Frank Fodor.
Predeceased by her mother (1964), father (1983), first husband Jim Vidok (1970), son-in-law Steve Czobor (2013), brother Leslie Liba (2013), sister Elaine Kosar (2016), grandson Chris Vidok (2016) and second husband Frank Fodor (1994).
Funeral Services will take place at the Warburg Community Hall, Warburg, Alberta on Saturday May 13, 2017 at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Breton Cemetery. Following interment, lunch and fellowship will take place back at the Hall. Viewing will be available from 9:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breton Cemetery or to a charity of one’s choice.
