Richard was not only a special person; he was a Special Olympian who participated in his favourite sports of bowling and floor hockey. He enjoyed many different activities throughout his life. He always loved his music and dancing, playing cards, crib, and games, attending many concerts, and travelling. He enjoyed swimming and skating and participated in Rodeo of Smiles in his younger years.
Richard loved to visit with people and make them smile. He was always willing to help where he could, whether he was ushering at St. Peters, working on the family farm, working various jobs in Devon, or at his current employment at Walmart.
He will be remembered by his brothers, Ed (Sharon), and Ray (Norine); and his sister Sheila (Dave); their children: Chris (Tara), Wendy (Jamie), Nick (Audra), Robby, Renee (Cory), Derek (Danielle), and Deanna (Sonia); all of the extended family and countless friends; his care companion of 10 years, Lori, and everyone at Leduc Community Living.
He was predeceased by his parents, Allen and Gertie, and his sister-in-law, Lorraine.
A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church, Leduc, AB. (49245 RR250)
With Richard’s passions in mind, it would be appropriate to wear Oilers or music group or WWE attire.
In lieu of flowers, Expressions of Sympathy in Richards memory to Leduc Community Living Association, University Hospital (ICU), or a charity of your choice are greatly appreciated.
