Mary Ann Bush has moved to a place where Parkinson’s does not exist. She is enjoying the company of those loved ones who arrived before her and is likely being besieged by an army of cats vying for her attention. If she hears a cheeky comment, her embarrassed chuckle and that “oh gosh!” will again be heard. In her former life Ann held many roles. A wife of 48 years , a mother ( to Pam, her Samford girls and others), a grandmother to her grand-nieces, a doting aunt, a daughter who looked after her parents well when the roles reversed, a cousin, a lover of animals, a friend who loved to laugh but did not fail to shed tears when the circumstances called for it, a chef who loved to entertain and a devoted cook for those less fortunate. A loving daughter of the Almighty God who worked alongside her husband at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church for many years. Even in the harsh infirmity and crushing disappointments of recent years, staff at the care center where she resided shared how Ann was never unkind or disrespectful to those who cared for her.
Ann was born 81 years ago near Birmingham, Alabama. Her family moved to Prospect in Shelby County when she was a teen. After graduating Shelby County High School, she worked at Moore Handley , then Five Points Hardware, and eventually joined Alabama Power where she worked until retirement when she married.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle J. Morgan and John J. Parker, her husband James R. Bush, her brother James A. Parker Sr, her sister-in-law , Nell H. Parker, and her niece, Shirlon M. Parker.
She is survived by James (nephew) and Ruth Parker, Robert (nephew) and Pamella Parker and grand-nieces Abigail and Ellen Parker.
