Betty Shirley

Betty Parsons Shirley passed on May 7, 2026, at the age of 86, having been born on August 12, 1939 and is preceded in death by her husband; Calvin R. Shirley, parents; Sam and Nellie Parsons, brother; Bobby Parsons (Pat), Donald Parsons (Shirley) and Fred Parsons (Mary) and Precious, her loving puppy. She is survived by her brother; Ronald Parsons(Carol). Nephews; Bob Parsons (Diane), Steve Parsons, Jeff Parsons(Phyllis), Randy Parsons (Carol), John Parsons, Sam Parsons (Brigett). Nieces; Leslie Hill (Jeff), Rhonda Pate, Theresa Bolin and Mae Parsons and special friend who was always there when I called, Annette Jackson.

She was a member of Bellview Baptist Church, member of Gideon International East Camp Auxiliary serving as president and many other positions. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #437 Pell City serving as Worthy Matron and serving in different stations.

She started teaching Sunday School at Inglenook Baptist Church at the age of 17 where she taught until she married Calvin in 1991 and moved to Cook Springs Baptist. She taught at Cook Springs, Arbor Baptist and Bellview.In 2019 she decided to retire after 63 years of teaching. Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 12, 2026 at Kilgroe Funeral Home - Leeds with burial at St Clair Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday May 12, 2026 from 10-11 at Kilgroe Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers it was Betty's wishes that donations be made to the St. Clair County Gideons, PO Box 895, Moody, AL 35004.
