

On Thursday, December 3, 2020, Cathy Calhoun died at the age of 70. Cathy was born on November 14, 1950, in Anniston, AL to Charles and Mary Sue (Rodgers) Worthy. She was the youngest of 3 children. After finishing high school, Cathy married and was blessed with two sons, Paul and Chris Filasek. She worked for many years in the Birmingham area as a workers compensation claims adjustor.
Cathy was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend to many. With her outgoing and gregarious personality, she had the “gift of gab” and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Always the life of every party, she was funny and people enjoyed being around her. Her laughter was infectious and she filled every room with joy. She was an excellent cook and she enjoyed hosting dinners for her family and friends.
Later in life, Cathy met and married Randall (Randy) W. Calhoun. Randy was a loving and devoted husband to Cathy and their love will last for eternity. They resided in Riverside, AL and enjoyed a full life with their beloved dog, Newton.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Randy Calhoun of Riverside; sons, Paul (Autumn) Filasek of Guin and Chris (Laura) Filasek of Trussville; grandchildren, Andrew (Lauren) Filasek, Brittany (Alec) King, Juan (Kaitlyn) Madero, Aaron Madero, Alyssa Perez, Breanna Crawford, Joseph Filasek, Luke Filasek, and Charlie Filasek; great grandchildren, June Filasek, Darcy Jo Filasek, Brewer King, and Masen King. Cathy is also survived by her mother, Mary Sue Rodgers Worthy, of Collierville, TN; brother, Charles “Chuck” (Janet) Worthy of Ball, LA; sister, Pamela “Pam” (Jim) Stackhouse of Collierville TN; a large extended family and many friends. Last, but not least, she leaves behind her beloved dog, Newton.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Charles Edward Worthy.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 7, 2020 with a service at 11:00 AM at Kilgroe Funeral home in Leeds, Alabama. A private graveside gathering of family will take place at Forrestlawn Gardens in Anniston, AL immediately following the service in Leeds.
