Doris Elizabeth Shockley

Born on February 9, 1949, Doris was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a truly kind-hearted soul with a servant’s heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

as a cherished member of Eden Westside Baptist Church – River Campus, her faith and love for the Lord brought her immense joy and fulfillment. Doris found profound happiness in her family, who were her world.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Cortnee Nix; her precious granddaughter, Maddelyn Nix; her dear brother, Hugh Shockley Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews who will carry her spirit forward.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Mamie Sue Sweatt; her father, Hugh Winfred Shockley Sr.; her dear sisters, Susie Hammett, Jody Watson, and Patsy Lovvorn; her brothers, Bobby Shockley and Larry Shockley; and her cousin and closest friend, Martha Shockley.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM for family and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM for friends at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama. The funeral will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Kilgroe Funeral Home, followed by a burial procession to Liberty Cemetery in Odenville, Alabama.
