

Floyd was born August 1, 1937, to mother, Opal McDaniel, and father, Willie “Bill” Reames in Birmingham, AL. He is preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Janie Surovec.
Floyd was raised in Birmingham, where he resided until he was old enough to enlist in the army. He moved to several locations including Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, where he completed 501 airborne infantry training, and was eventually stationed in the Panama Canal zone.
After completing 4 years in the armed forces, Floyd returned home to Alabama. He married his wife of 58 years, Brenda Marquita Reames, on November 28, 1964. They were blessed with three children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Floyd was a devout Christian and preacher of the Holiness faith. He spent most of his adult life in service to the Lord, traveling to churches throughout the Southeast to teach the word of God. What he cared about most was salvation for his loved ones and for others.
Floyd also enjoyed fishing and traveling around the country with his wife- visiting 45 of 50 states. He loved family, fellowship, and home cooked meals. He was a strong leader with a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Marquita; children, Jonathan (Elicia), Shannon and Laquita (R.D.); grandchildren, Morgan, Kasey, Evan (Taylor), Dalton and Colton; great grandchildren, Theodore, Aurora and Zoey; half siblings, Darlin and Pam,brother-in-law,Paull(Sandra),sister-in-law Sandra(Ted) several nieces and nephews, and his dog, Buster.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Kilgroe Funeral Home, 1750 Ashville Rd, Leeds, AL 35094, from 12:00 pm to 2:00pm. Memorial services will follow at 2:00pm, officiated by pastor Daryll Osteen.
