Frederick Dowdle

Frederick Eugene Dowdle, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to Heaven with Jesus peacefully on Saturday 02/21/2026 at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick W. Dowdle and Larlas L. Dowdle, and son-in-law, Jeff Wiggins. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Ann English Dowdle, son Matt Dowdle, daughter-in-law Traci Dowdle, daughter Allison Dowdle Wiggins, and grandchildren Justin, Laci, Noel, Cody, Cade, Caleb, and Ansley. He rarely missed an opportunity to watch, encourage, and celebrate his grandchildren who he adored in their various sports, activities, and accomplishments.

He was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He then earned a degree and graduated from Auburn University. He enjoyed a long and respected career as a construction accountant before retiring. Following retirement, he remained active in his community and church. He served as a deacon at Eastmont Baptist Church in Montgomery and later at First Baptist Church of Moody.

He volunteered delivering homebound meals and participated at the Moody Senior Center. He enjoyed working the election polls to meet and connect with people in the community. His hobbies and interests involved anything history related, going to Auburn University football games, fishing, coin collecting, and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, his smile, and his presence with those who loved him.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family devotion, and community service that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Funeral services are detailed below. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Moody.
