Harvey Jack Laney passed on April 8, 2026, at the age of 90, having been born on January 18, 1936, in Georgia and residing in Irondale, Alabama. Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and Harvey Laney; daughter, Patty Laney; brothers, David Laney and Colin Laney; sister, Vernie Perry. Harvey is survived by his sons, Michael Jack Laney (Nancy) and Danny (Sherry) Smith; daughters, Brooke Strenfert (Mike) and Tammy Nichles; sister, Diane Delanuez; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Harvey served in the United States Navy while in the Navy he attended college and became a aerospace engineer and worked on the saturn 5 rocket and project Pegasus. Harvey also helped to integrate Leeds Public Schools and took great pride in being a Preacher. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 14, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 AM from the Chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama with a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00AM. Burial will be at Forest Crest Cemetery.
