

He was a 1965 graduate of St. Clair County High School and earned an Associate’s degree from Gadsden State Community College. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he served in Vietnam, where he was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds in combat.
After his service, Hubert began his 30-year career with South Central Bell. Following his retirement in 1999, he and his brother Bobby opened an office furniture store, where they sold used office furniture and gathered daily with friends and family for fellowship and laughter.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, David Dewey and Bertie Folsum Tipton. He was the youngest of 16 children. Also preceding him in death are 13 of his brothers and sisters: David Tipton, Ralph Tipton, Irene Tipton Underwood, Katie Tipton Dunston, Lloyd Tipton, Buford Tipton, Fred Tipton, Phillip Tipton, Billy Tipton, Barbara Tipton Lambert, Bobby Tipton, Kanneth Tipton, and Edna Tipton Peters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sandra; two brothers, Michael (Sue) and Wallace Tipton; and three children, Lisa White (Alfie), Vance Tipton (Shelia), and Scott Tipton (Gelene). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Zachary and Christopher Tipton, Blake, Ian, Reed, Seth, and Caroline White, and one grandchild, Christopher Brian Tipton Jr.
Hubert’s humble beginnings and service experience molded him into a man who valued his large family and was never afraid to stand up for what he believed was right. He will be most remembered for his quick wit and generous heart. He will be sadly missed by his friends and family.
There will be a graveside service Monday, January 12, 2026 at Cedar Grove Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Services under the direction of Kilgroe Funeral Home 1750 Ashville Road Leeds, Alabama 35094.
