Hugh Paschal Tunnell, born Oct 6, 1934, in Clay, Alabama, passed away on July 22, 2012 at home among his family. Hugh served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War, after which he met and married Carolyn “Susie” Marlin. They have been married for 55 years and have four children. Hugh was a Birmingham Police Officer where he started his beat on a bicycle. After many years serving Birmingham, he went to Tractor and Equipment. In 1975 the family relocated to Branchville, where Hugh served as the first Chief of Police for Branchville. Then in 1985 he started his own business and worked until his retirement. Hugh is a member of First Baptist Church in Moody. He was a very giving and caring man that could tell you what was wrong with your tractor by listening to it over the phone. Hugh was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his mother, Daphanie Dean Tidwell (Ira). He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Sue Tunnell; sons, Hugh Alan (Charlie) Tunnell, Steven Tunnell, and Gary Diggs ; two daughters Vickie Tunnell and Sharon (Mike) Davis; four Grandchildren, Kris Tunnell-Walker, Shelbie Tunnell, Allison Tunnell, and Cason Davis and his half brother James (Linda) Thacker and many nieces and nephews.
