James "Jimmy" Nichols, age 82, of Leeds, Alabama passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Garvin and Jewel Nichols; son, Johnny Campbell; sisters, Zhelma and Thelma; brothers, Gary and Lindy Nichols. He worked for United Chair for 38 years but is better known for his love of fishing, hunting, and shooting pool but most importantly was his love for his grandchildren who called him granddaddy.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Kelly Nichols; daughter, Kelli Nichols; son, Darren Nichols (Draga); grandchildren, Andrew, Chandler, Stacey, Jamie and Madelyn; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Darlene Calhoun and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice Care as well as all the other family members who all helped take care of Jimmy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. Graveside services will he held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Branchville Cemetery beginning at 2:00PM.
