

James Ollie McCoy, 86 of Leeds, Alabama went to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at his home. He was a resident at Somerby Independent Living, where he had many friends
He was born on August 9, 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama to James Perry and Vida S. McCoy. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He spent his career in the road construction and building industry. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a Master Mason and Shriner. After his retirement, he found his passion in cooking and helping in the kitchen at the Leeds First United Methodist Church, where he was a member.
He was famous for “Pappy’s Pound Cakes”. His sense of humor and zest for life was loved by all.
He is survived by one daughter; Jamie McWilliams and her husband Allen, a grandson Alex, niece Phyllis (Bob) Baker and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Edna and brother, Duke McCoy.
Funeral services will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama with visitation at 2:00 pm and service in the Chapel at 3:00 pm. Graveside to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
