Luther attended LSU where he met his wife, Jamie. He graduated in Landscape Architecture and managed his own landscaping design firm for over 30 years. He “retired” and then worked as an associate at Home Depot for several years before retiring for the second time. He loved photography and made many long-time friends pursuing his passion. He had many different hobbies and interests because he liked to stay busy. He loved photographing nature and made many camping trips in the process. He had a great sense of humor and could always throw in a joke to make you laugh. He loved his family, community, and sports. He was the king of planning family trips and community events, a board member of his neighborhood HOA where he held many different positions, and a huge LSU football fan.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jamie Firmin Horton, his son, Miller Horton, and his daughter, Justine Horton; his sisters, Marilyn Horton Evans and Dona Horton Conway; many nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald L. Horton and Elizabeth Beall Horton.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 6:00PM at the Chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama. Visitation for family and friends will be observed from 4:00-6:00 PM.
