To know Harold was to be fully embraced by his warmth, kindness, generosity, and selfless spirit. His genuine gift was in the giving of his entire focus, attention, detail, compassion, and intentional time to everyone in his circle – and his circle was exceptionally large. Born and raised in Blount County, he served in the Army and then began his career in the meat market industry, eventually joining Associated Grocers in 1986 and remaining with the company until retirement in 2022. His endless sense of humor and sincere welcoming manner was effortlessly present whether he entered a room or joined a conversation. He was a man of his word and in turn made purposeful listening a part of his special, endearing craft. He was a passionate, old-school, Southern cook who looked forward to gatherings and times together. He was deeply loved and will be forever cherished. His love for family and friendships will live on through the wonderful memories and stories that will continue to be shared in his honor.
A celebration of life will be on Saturday, June 21st, at 11am at Kilgroe Funeral Home, 1750 Ashville Road, Leeds, Alabama. Family will receive friends 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Donations may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Harold.
