Helga Iris Hollaway

Helga Hollaway of Leesville, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, May 12th, 2014 in Leesville, Louisiana. Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville, Louisiana from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 17th, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday, May 18th, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Gary Archbold of Trinity Lutheran Church Officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Helga was born in Berlin, Germany to Theodore and Augusta Besocke. She worked as a reporter for a German newspaper shortly after World War II and met the love of her life, Melvin Hollaway. They were married for over 50 years until his death in 2004. She loved classical music, art and her church, but most of all she loved her family.

Survivors include her son, Douglas Hollaway and his spouse Zhanna Hollaway of Rosepine, Louisiana; two daughters, Patrizia Hollaway and spouse Keith Croy of Silver Spring, Maryland and Vivian Gabor and spouse Jr Gabor of Leesville, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Eric and Jessica Gabor of Leesville, Louisiana and Stanley Ponomarev of Ruston, Louisiana and her beloved dog Mikey.
