Melba Dean Chance Hughes

Melba Hughes, 76, of Leesville, Louisiana entered eternal peace on Sunday, December 14, 2014 in Leesville, Louisiana. She was a proud member of the African Violet Society, Vernon Homemakers, and East Leesville Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, music, reading, sewing and her family.

Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents Johnny “Edd” Chance and Abigail Mitchell and her husband Francis Murrell “FM” Hughes. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss are one son, Francis Edward “Eddie” Hughes and wife Jennifer of Hornbeck, LA; two daughters, Teresa Quinones and husband Robert of Leesville, LA, and Mary Dowden and husband Paul of Kistaschie, LA; seven grandchildren, DeAnna Bordelon, Brittany Hughes, Megan Smith (Donnie), Montgomery Dowden (Nicole), Logan Hughes, Taylor Jones and Mark Jones; one great grandchild, Gauge Bordelon; caretaker and friend, Shirley Jones and numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 16th, 2014 from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville, LA. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 17th, 2014 at 10:00 am at Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville, LA. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Florien, LA.
