Wilbert Mack Cavel

He was born in Kilgore, TX. on the 13th of March, 1939, to Thomas Cavel and Murda Spencer Cavel.

Mr. Cavel ended his military career in the spring of 1975, and retired as a CW4. He received the following honors: NDSM, GCMDL (3rd awd), VSM, RVNCM, BSM (40LC), MUGC, RVNCG Unit Awd (2nd awd), ARCOM (20LC), AFRM, MECH BAD.

Mr. Cavel has lived in Vernon Parish for the past 34 years. He was a Mason, York rite, Shriner and Eastern Star.

Preceded in death by his parents: Thomas Cavel and Murda Spencer Cavel.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary Cavel of Leesville, LA; sons: Michael Cavel and wife Amy of Shreveport, LA., Richard Cavel of Beaumont, TX., David Cavel and wife Annette of Lawton, OK. and Bob McGraw of Leesville, LA. daughters: Kathy McKelvey and husband Kirk of AR., Christine Moreland of Brandon, MS., Corinna Butler and husband Brian of Brandon, MS. and Cindy Foster and husband Marcus of Lacey, WA. brother: Tommy Cavel and wife Susan of Scott, LA., sisters: Mary Jo Johnson and husband Randy of Quinnland, TX., Becky Ramour and husband Kenneth of Hathaway, LA., Fannie Darbone of Eunice, LA. and 14 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville, LA. Service will be held Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville, LA. Pallbearers will be: Richard, Tommy, Michael, Robert and Mateo. Burial will follow in Pinehill Cemetery in Leesville, LA. under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville, LA.
