

Agnes Emily Jacobsmeier, age 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California. She was born on November 5, 1922 in St. Paul, Minnesota to John and Katherine (Zientek) Niemczyk. She married Aloysius “Jake” Jacobsmeier May 12, 1943 in Washington DC. After moving a few times due to her husband's career in the Navy, they settled in Lemon Grove, San Diego in 1947. They raised 7 children: Joan Alcock, James Jacobsmeier, MIchael Jacobsmeier, Jerome Jacobsmeier, Laurie (Steven) Ross, Mark Jacobsmeier, and Daniel Jacobsmeier. Her life was dedicated to her husband, her children and her church. They took their children on many fun camping trips, and the boys had many fishing excursions. She was an avid crafter and a phenomenal seamstress, creating clothing, blankets, beautiful floral arrangements and complex quilts for family and friends. She was also an active member of St. John of the Cross Women’s Club for many years. Her family remembers her as a petite woman with incredible strength, optimism for life, and great health. She is preceded in death by her husband and her son Jerome. She is survived by 6 children and 7 grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 7th at 10 am at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 8086 Broadway, Lemon Grove, CA 91945. A private interment for immediate family will be held at 12:30 at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in Pt. Loma.
