

Bennie Haskel Shipley was born on May 23, 1927 in Cave City, Kentucky to George and Ethel Shipley. He moved to Indiana in the early 1950s where he was drafted and served in the United States Army. He moved to San Diego in 1957 and was employed at Marshall Tire Company in downtown San Diego until its closing. He retired from Camp Pendleton USMC Base — Oceanside, CA as a Mechanic.
Ben was a Motorcycle enthusiast and loved taking rides and spending time with his motorcycle club The Cobras where he served as president and numerous other positions. He was known to Club members as Shorty and to his family and friends he was known as Happy, Pops, Dad, Grandpa, etc. He was quick to smile and make you laugh. Nothing made him happier than a good game of Dominoes.
Ben is survived by his wife Raygena, 4 sons Benjamin (Roquel) of San Diego, California; Bennie Jr. ( Sharon) of Columbus, Indiana; Steven (Juliette) of Columbus, Indiana and Tony (Dalynn) of Columbus Indiana; 2 daughters Beverly Humes (Willie) of Columbus, Indiana and Bette Good (Melbert) of Columbus, Indiana; 1 brother Willie Shipley (Bernice) of San Diego, California; 1 sister Mary Sears (James) of Kentucky; 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Ben was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers Joel, Ernie and George Shipley.
Visitation for Bennie will be on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at the Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary, 7387 Broadway, Lemon Grove, CA with a Committal Service also on Friday at 2:30 pm at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego, CA.
