Donald Judson Neal was born on November 19, 1933 in Manchester, Iowa. He was the son of Francis Harriett McIntosh and Arthur Judson Neal (A.J.), and the brother of four siblings, his twin brother Richard, Blake, Gary, and half-sister Ann Porter. In 1952 Don and his family moved to California. He attended San Diego State College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. He went to work with the Automobile Club of So. California where he met and married the love of his life, Maxine Neal. He later took the position of Bodily injuries claims adjustor, after a year of Law School. He retired after 38 years with the Automobile Club of So. California.
Don and Maxine have two children, a son, Judson Paul Neal and a daughter, Janell Louise Moore. They have two grandchildren, Charles Julian Tillman, (C.J.) and Jonah Alden Moore.
Don’s great passion was golf. His golf buddies in the game for many years were Gordon Tucker of First Lutheran Church in El Cajon, CA, Michael Kuttnauer a retired prof. from Mesa College and his brother-in-law Donald Abbott, also a professor at Mesa College. If you wanted to get into a good conversation with Don all you had to do was bring up golf. He had made 5 holes-in-one in his lifetime, having started as a young golfer at the age of eleven.
Don was active in the church as he enjoyed ushering, being a Lay Reader and assisting with distribution of the Holy Communion for many years. He was an Elder in the church for two years. He loved Jesus and serving Him. Don lived a Godly life, and was a devoted husband and loving father.
