Guillermo Eloy Sanchez

Guillermo (Bill) E. Sanchez, 89, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2014 with his loving wife Alice at his side. He was born in Belen, New Mexico and graduated from Kearny High School in San Diego. He then joined the Navy and served for 22 years and rose to the rank of Chief Storekeeper. In the Navy he was stationed throughout the world including Hawaii, Japan, Spain, New Orleans, and New York. He married his wife in 1952 in Honolulu and they had two children, Roberta and Dennis.

After he retired from the Navy, Bill became active in his church, St John of the Cross, worked with Amnesty and served on the Parish Council. His greatest joy at his church was joining the Knights of Columbus and becoming the Grand Knight.

Bill loved gardening and would work for hours creating gardens for his family. He enjoyed fixing things in the house and would always offer help to others in need.

Bill is survived by his wife Alice, his two children, Roberta and Dennis, his grandchildren, Alicia and Fred, and his great granddaughter, Olivia.
