John C. Gomes

92 ½ Years

January 25, 1920 – August 18, 2012

Adventurer, World Traveler, Entrepreneur, and Master of Countless Talents. Former CFO, Fisherman, Electrician, Winemaker and always A friend to all.

John was the oldest of 17 siblings. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah G. Gomes on July 1, 1986. John is survived by 5 brothers and 5 sisters; also a son, Norbert and his wife Patricia Gomes, granddaughter Nicole and her husband Michael Joseph. In addition, two great grandchildren Shawna Maria and Mitchell João Joseph; and in San Diego, nephew David and his wife Mimi Gomes, niece Mary Ann Mootry and caregiver Toni DiMaggio.

Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 24th at Santa Sophia Roman Catholic Church (9800 San Juan Street) in Casa de Oro. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. After the Mass, Entombment will be in Holy Cross Mausoleum (4470 Hilltop Drive) in San Diego. A reception will follow the entombment at Santa Sophia Roman Catholic Church in the church hall.
