Dear family, friends and our christian brothers and sisters:
I was privileged to be able to hold and comfort my mother as she prepared her travel to God's kingdom. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, reached out his hand and escorted her into heaven at 6:15 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2013, from Sharp Memorial Hospital, Kearney Mesa, CA. She wanted me to let you know that she loved all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her most recent beautiful great great grand daughter. She loved all her nieces and nephews and all those she held dear and close.
I know that Jesus is now embracing my mother, and that my mother is now holding close to her heart her grand daughter, Karen, who was called into God's kingdom in 1981. Karen was 20 years old at the time and we love and miss her just as much today as we did in 1981. Thank you Jesus for your many blessings and for your great love and compassion. Through you there is glory and peace and the promise of everlasting life. We are your servants. You are our savior. Thank you for the life of my mother.
LIFE HISTORY:
Margaret P. Giovanazzi was born on September 9, 1921 in Los Angeles, CA. She was the oldest of four children and the only daughter of (deceased) parents John James Giovanazzi and Louisa Poggione of Yucippa, CA. The John Giovanazzi's are Italian decendents of Tyrol, Austrian immigrants. The Giovanazzi's were proud, hard-working, self-supporting immigrants who struggled and survived the great depression of the United States. Their lives were difficult and they often went without food and necessities, but as a family they survived. Margaret is survived by her brother, Richard Giovanazzi, and was pre-deceased by brothers Johnie and Frank Giovanazzi.
Margaret Giovanazzi graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Lincoln Heights (Los Angeles), California in 1939. In 1941 she met and married Guiseppe(Joseph)Tumanello, son of (deceased) Carmelo Tumanello and (deceased) Salvatora Maraunio, immigrants from Palermo, Sicily who emigrated to the United States in the late 1800's, settling in San Francisco, CA. They were fishermen. In about 1930 and after the death of Salvatora in 1929, the Tumanello family relocated to Los Angeles, CA.
Joseph is a first generation, American-born Army veteran of World War II. He served his country stationed in German during the Jewish holocost. From this marriage, Margaret had three children: Gary J. Tumanello (1942), Paula M. Tumanello (Warmee)(1945), and, her youngest, Sharron J. Tumanello (Stevenson)(1947). Their home was in South El Monte, CA. Margaret's life was devoted to caring and raising her three children. She worked hard as a factory worker and she struggled. Joseph died of pancreatic cancer on November 17, 1971 at the age of 50. It is believed he developed cancer as a result of asbestos inhalation while employed with the Southern Pacific Railroad in Los Angeles, CA. Many Southern Pacific Railroad employees of that era died of various cancers as a result of asbestos poisoning.
In 1973, Margaret met her future husband, Robert E. Ross of Arkansas. After a year's courtship, they married in 1974 and lived in the San Gabriel/Temple City, CA. area. After they both retired from Ball Jars Corporation, they relocated to Sun City (Menifee), CA. They enjoyed retirement and traveled throughout California and other states. They were active in civic and community activities. They were strongly involved in their church and its teachings. Margaret and Robert lived in Sun City until Robert's death in 1998 from complications of Parkinson's Disease.
Shortly after Robert's death, Margaret, too, was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. She spent a good deal of time being active in the community, and loving and caring for her grandchildren. After a sudden decline in her health, Margaret became a resident of Westminster Terrance, an assisted living facility, in Westminster, CA. where she lived close to her youngest daughter, Sharron. When her daughter moved to the San Diego area, Margaret was relocated to Sungarden Terrace, an assisted living facility, in Lemon Grove, CA., where she received excellent care, great food and great companionship.
Margaret Ross (Tumanello) passed away on October 1, 2013 from complications of Parkinson's Disease and congestive heart and kidney failure.
Margaret is survived by her three children, Gary, Paula and Sharron. From her son Gary is grandson, Johnathen Tumanello, Sr.; from her daughter Paula Warmee (Paul)is her grand daughters Kristine Harris and Lorna Warmee and grandson, Paul Warmee; from her daughter Sharron Stevenson (Rick) is her grand daughter Karlene Roe-Dome (Craig).
Margaret is further survived by her great grandchildren; Johnathen Tumanello, Jr., Joshua Tumanello, Dominique Alcala (Harris), Ryan Warmee, Noah Dome, Micah Dome, Savannah Dome and Jonah Dome. She is also survived by the newest member of the family, the beautiful 6-month old great great grand daughter Ariya Tumanello. Margaret is pre-deceased by her oldest grand daughter, Karen Tumanello, who died in a car accident in 1981.
Margaret was a devoted religious woman with deep christian morals and values. She lived her life serving her Lord, Jesus Christ, and honoring and praising him for her many blessings and rewards, and for his promise for eternal life and happiness. I know that she is now at peace and no longer suffering the debilitating neurological disorder, Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease.
We love, cherish and greatly mourn the loss of our mother. She asked that you do not send flowers for she is not there and cannot enjoy them. In God's honor and in our mother's memory, please do send a donation in her name to New Life Center, 1448 Peach Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92021. New Life Center is a United Pentecostal Church.
