

Reverend Wilson was born September 30, 1925 at the Methodist Parsonage in Misenheimer, NC to the late Reverend Austin Wilson and Bertha Garrett Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Wilson, Inez Wilson Davis and Lillian Wilson Pike, also, his half-sister, Della Wilson Johnson, Mallie Wilson McGinnis, half-brothers, Coatsworth Wilson, Layfayette Wilson and brother-in-law Esmond Freeman.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth Freeman Wilson and his sons Alvin A. Wilson Jr. and wife Beverly of Lenoir, Robert F. Wilson of Hudson, granddaughter Jessica Dale of Morganton and sister-in-law Lorene Freeman of Hudson.
Reverend Wilson was a faithful and loving minister, husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.
He graduated from Newton High School in 1943, Pfeiffer Jr. College, with an AA degree in 1945 and UNC Chapel Hill, with a BA Degree in 1947.
Alvin taught at Hudson High School during the 1947-1948 school years. This is where Alvin met fellow teacher and future wife, Ruth Paralee Freeman. Alvin proposed Halloween night, 1947.
Reverend Wilson graduated with a master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School, June 4, 1951. He married, the love of his life, Ruth, June 5, 1951. As a couple, Alvin and Ruth lived and served charges and churches, throughout western NC, spanning 38 years. Alvin Jr. was born in 1953 and Robert was born in 1955 while Alvin and Ruth were living in Lilesville, NC.
After retirement Alvin and Ruth lived in Hudson, NC and were faithful members of Hudson United Methodist Church.
A funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Pendry’s Chapel with the Reverend Tim Brittain officiating. The family will receive an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Al Wilson, Bob Wilson, Jim Freeman, Jack Norman, Eric Esch and Riley Davis.
