

Mr. Watson was born in Caldwell County to the late Clyde R. Watson and Edith Verna Jenkins Watson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann Kirby Watson and two brothers, Harley Watson and Jimmy Watson.
Mr. Watson was retired from Bernhardt Furniture and was a veteran of the US Airforce and served in the Korean War. He was a member of Kings Creek Baptist Church and an avid member of the Foothills Square Dancing Group.
Survivors include his son: Michael Watson and wife Barbara of Lenoir, daughter Vivian Renee Watson Wagoner and husband Robert of Lenoir, three brothers; Johnny Watson and wife Gloria of Lenoir, Gene Watson and wife Charlene of Hudson, Jerry Watson and wife Barbara of Hudson, six sisters; Marie Braswell, Priscilla Annas, Diane Haynes and husband Howard, Opal Harris all of Hudson, Patricia Edison and husband Don of Raleigh and Sharon Powell and husband John of Florence, Alabama, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren and special friend Betty Jo Greene.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Kings Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Roger Hodges and Reverend David Richards officiating. The family will receive friends from 1100a.m. until 12:00 noon at Pendry’s Funeral Home prior to the services.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Holmes, Ed Walker, Jabob Sanders, Matthew Watson, Jason Watson and Tim Singleterry.
