
Carl Edward Oliver, 83, of Lenoir peacefully went to join his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Oliver was the son of the late James Rufus Oliver and Nellie Rebecca Nelson Oliver.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Andy Molatch, 4 brothers, Clarence, Richard, Jesse, Rufus, 3 sisters, Nora, Olivia and Celia.
Mr. Oliver was passionate about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was involved in the Gospel Rider CD and Tract Ministry. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was a Paratrooper. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and he attended Union Baptist Church. Mr. Oliver served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Lakeview Baptist Church in Hudson for 50 years and was a Gideon. Carl loved to play golf, watch westerns on TV and work in his garden. He worked for Southern Life Insurance Company and was a retired supervisor at American Efird.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years Glaidous Gentry Oliver of the home, son; Kevin D. Oliver and wife Eleanor of High Point, three daughters; Denise Oliver Molatch of Stanfield, Carla Oliver Bates and husband David of Lenoir, Sarah Oliver Shook and husband Ben of Raleigh, ten grandchildren, Kevin Oliver Jr., Brooke Powell, Stacey Oliver, Jordan and Graham Molatch, Hayden and Lathan Bryant, Samantha “Sammy” Bates, Carson “Kitt” Bates, Savanna Shook, four great grandchildren, sisters; Nancy Huffman and husband Leroy of Lenoir, Elizabeth Rogers and husband Roy of Lenoir and Pauline Triplett of Eugene Oregon.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with Reverend Luke Brakefield, Reverend Gurney Robbins and Reverend Myron Davis officiating.The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:30 pm on Sunday at the church.
Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to Wilderness Scout Ministries at 6970 Strawberry Lane, Stanfield, NC 28163 to help continue the tract ministry that Carl was so passionate about.
