Mrs., Handy was born September 19, 1950 in Caldwell County to the late Ronald Holman and Margaret Jeanette Alley Holman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Stacy Lynn Handy and a sister, Shirley Long.
Clara was a kind, considerate and caring wife and mother. She was employed in the furniture industry for many years, working for both Fairfield and for Blue Ridge Furniture. She loved to travel with her family and especially enjoyed trips to the beach.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 49 years, Gar Handy of the home, her son, Gar Handy Jr. of the home, 2 sisters, Vickie Church of Lenoir, Linda Meadows of Taylorsville, 2 sisters-in-law, Faye Coffey of Lenoir and Oza Hayes of Morganton.
Also left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces nephews and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held to honor the memory of Clara on Friday, March 26, 2021 in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home at 7:00 pm with Rev. Stuart White officiating.
