Mr. Barnes was born July 4, 1956 in Caldwell County to the late James Davis Barnes and Ruby Cooke Barnes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Cynthia Curtis and Debra Lail.
David was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his greatest joy in life. He was an avid golfer, loved music, and was a true giver at heart, always willing to help others. David was a member of Free Spirit Baptist Church and he played guitar at church when he could.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Mary Nelson Barnes of the home, son; Eric Cody Barnes and wife Kristy of Hickory, step-son Alex Wayne Nelson of Lenoir, half-brother Danny Ray Lowman of Connelly Springs, and a brother-in-law; Ronnie Curtis of Granite Falls.
Also left to cherish his memory are his four beloved grandchildren, Dylan Barnes, Allison Barnes, Mckinley Barnes and Blake Barnes all of Hickory.
A funeral service to honor Mr. Barnes will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry’s Funeral Home with Rev.Calvin Hargett officiating. Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir and will be private.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
