

Mr. Kemp was born in Kankakee, Illinois to the late William Kemp and Marie Richter Kemp. He was retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad Company after 26 years of service, a paratrooper in the U. S. Army and was a wedding photographer for many years. He was a member of Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Kemp; two brothers, Leroy and Richard Kemp and a sister, Marie Kroll.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Lambert Kemp of the home; his son, Douglas Kemp of the home; a granddaughter, Tapainga Kemp of Foscoe; his brothers, William Kemp of Kankakee, ILL, Harold Kemp of Bourbonnais, ILL, and Gerald Kemp of Clifton, ILL; a sister, Ellen Jennrich of Los Angeles, CA.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Dale Payne officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charley Wirtz, Tommy Kroll, Kenny Duncan, Ken Briscoe, Doug Bumgarner and Phil Ford.
The family requests that memorials be made to Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church, 3212 Clarks Chapel Road, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
