Duane Paul Duresky passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, surrounded by family in Blowing Rock, N.C. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family above all else.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Antoinette Kollmer (Christopher), and his five beloved grandchildren: Louis Ferraro, Lauren Ferraro, Michael Ferraro (Reina), Ava Marlatt (Jonathan), Johnny Ray, and friend Sandra. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Prue Ava Holstrom. His family was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and milestones.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Pawel (Paul) Hilyer Duresky and Elsie Kleier Duresky, as well as his siblings: William (Bill) Hassinger, George (Bud) Hassinger, Ruth Herbert, and Shirley Remus.
A graduate of Mechanic Arts High School, Duane played football and was a proud member of the Schmidt/Hamm’s Indians Drum and Bugle Corps. He went on to build a successful career at the Minneapolis Star Tribune, where he retired as Composing Foreman.
Beyond his career, Duane was a man of many passions. An avid outdoorsman, he loved running marathons, hunting, horseback riding, motorcycles, firearms, snow skiing, traveling, reminiscing about friends, caring for his pets, and coin collecting. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than supporting his grandchildren in their sporting events, extracurricular activities, and hobbies. He was their biggest fan, a loving mentor, and the most devoted caregiver and father figure.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home is honored to serve the Duane Paul Duresky family.
