In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Left to cherish Dwight's memory are his sons Jeff Philyaw (Angel) of Collettsville, James Philyaw (Donna) of Hudson, and John Philyaw of Lincolnton; his grandson Josh Philyaw; his brother Robert Philyaw of Maiden; and his sister Jean Lowe of Maiden.
Dwight was a US Army veteran. He was a truck driver for many years.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 28th at Pendry's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for an hour prior, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM.
Military honors will follow the service.
