

2022 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson. Mr. Woods was born August 27, 1922 in Burke County to the late George Flowers Woods and Johnsie Cloninger Woods. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Johnsie Caldwell Woods, a son, Rue Caldwell Woods, and a brother, Ray J. Woods.
Mr. Woods was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for as long as his health allowed. He served there as deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Sunday School teacher. He was active in the Baptist Men's Association, and was a founding member of the Caldwell County Baptist Association Disaster Relief Team. Mr. Woods was a sports fan and was especially fond of the Atlanta Braves and the Carolina Tarheels.
Mr. Woods proudly served his country in the United States Army. He served in WWII as Gun Commander AAA Gun Battalion in North Africa and France.
Those left to cherish the memory of Mr. Woods are his son, Keith Woods and wife Patricia of Hudson, daughter, Nan Cherry of Charlotte, and a granddaughter, Melissa Toth and husband Dan of Charlotte.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hudson with Rev. Stephen Owen and Rev.Glen Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tracy Bryant, Dan Toth, Mark Rast, David Price, Kevin Wesson, and Jim Caldwell.
The family will receive friends for one and a half hours prior to the service, from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at the church.
Military Honors will be provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the Mt Zion Baptist Church Building Fund at 1787 Cajahs Mtn Road, Hudson, NC 28638 or to Amorem Caldwell Hospice.
