Herbert Dean Pennington

Herbert Dean Pennington 79, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Catawba Valley Hospice.

Mr. Pennington was born June 14, 1932 in Virginia to the late Willard Pennington and Flossie Haga Pennington. Mr. Pennington is also preceded in death by three brothers; Walter, Ken and Roy Pennington, one sister; Rosie Penngton. Mr. Pennington was a foreman for Pennington Construction Company. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the VFW-Disabled Veterans of America. Survivors include his son; Conley Ray Pennington of Hickory, two daughters Debra Sue Hudson and Pamela Ruth Flanagan of Lenoir, one step-daughter Judy Harrison of Lenoir; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; four brothers; Kyle Pennington of Gamewell, Doug Pennington of Tennessee, Stanley and Richard Pennington of Lenoir, two sisters; Jettie Huffman of Lenoir, Ora Mae Thibadeau of Seaford, Delaware. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with Elder Dan Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Cemetery, in Konnarock, Virginia on Wednesday afternoon. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Funeral Home Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be family members. The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Catawba Valley Hospice House, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
