

Mr. Holman was born July 12, 1925 in Ashe County to the late Claude Edgar Holman and Gertrude Viola Turner Holman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Bruce Holman.
Howard was a proud Veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, having served during WWII. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. He received his Master’s Degree in Education and served his community as a teacher and as an Assistant Principal at West Caldwell High School. He was a Charter Member of the Gamewell Ruritan Club where he served as Secretary and had over 50 years of Perfect Attendance. Howard loved to travel and experience the world around him. During his life, he visited all 50 states in the United States and forty-three foreign countries. New Zealand was his favorite of all the countries he visited.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister; Betty Ruth Holman Hawkins of Lenoir and a brother, Dwight Turner Holman of Clermont, FL.
A funeral service to honor Mr. Holman will be held of Friday, December 27, 2019 at West Lenoir Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Rick Safriet officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:00 pm until 1:45pm.
Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The United States Air Force and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard will provide military Honors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Hawkins, Kevin Hawkins, Robert Holman. Ralph Triplett, Danny Kincaid and Jim Watson.
Flowers are accepted, and memorial may be made in honor of Howard Holman to the Gamewell Ruritan Scholarship Fund at 2944 Spencer Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
