Howard Darrell Knight

Howard Darrell Knight, 86, of Hudson, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.

Mr. Knight was born June 14, 1931 in Caldwell County to the late Rev. Frank Knight and Julia Evelyn McCall Knight.

Mr. Knight was a devoted husband and father, was a member of Hudson First Baptist Church and was employed by Bernhardt Furniture in Lenoir for over 40 years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working with wood in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Hall Knight, a brother, Kenneth Knight, two sisters, Doris Knight Bryant and Madeline Herman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Roger Knight, of the home, a brother, Bob Knight and wife Libby of Hudson and a sister, Corinne Hatley of Hudson.

Also left to cherish his memory are a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A funeral service to honor Mr. Knight will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 12:30 pm at Hudson First Baptist Church with Rev. R. Mack Jarvis III and Rev. Mike Isaacs officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery in Hudson.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm at the church.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson for the wonderful care that Mr. Knight received and for the support and kindness shown to the family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
