

Mrs. Spears was born January 11, 1929 in Wilkes County, North Carolina to the late Clyde Phillips and Stella Cardwell Phillips.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who took great pleasure in the simple things in life. She enjoyed canning from her garden, word search puzzles, and quilting. She was of the Baptist faith and attended East Flat Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Gragg, a son, Edward Spears, brothers, Philo, Herbert, Lloyd and Wade Phillips, sisters, Mary Spears and Zora Vea Spears.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 70 years, RJ Spears of the home, sons, Garry Spears and wife Carol of Morganton, Roger Spears and wife Mackie of Lenoir, David Spears and wife Teresa of Lenoir, Keith Spears and wife Debra of Lenoir, a daughter, Cathy Parlier and husband Harold of Lenoir, and brothers, Branson, Ralph and Carroll Phillips, all of Lenoir.
Also left to cherish her memory are 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Kincaid Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Herman, Dereck Spears, Kyle LeFevers, Todd Robbins, Josh Robbins and Coty Robbins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association at128 South Tryon St., Suite 1588 Charlotte, NC 28202.
