Mr. Laws was born August 15, 1924 in Caldwell County to the late Rufus Alvie and Lizzie Wyke Laws. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Coffey Laws, three brothers and two sisters.
James was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed woodworking and gardening in his free time. He worked for many years as a foreman over the veneer room at Singer Furniture where he retired and was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Randy Laws and wife Kim of Lenoir, Kenny Laws and wife Janette of Maiden, daughter, Brenda Holland of Lenoir, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, sisters, Delores Jones of Lenoir, Rachel Livingston of Gamewell and a sister-in-law, Vivian Laws of Lenoir.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 11:00 am at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir with Rev. Dr. Alan Carr officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Mark Holland, Jason Holland, Eric Laws, Noah Laws, Andrew Raynor and Avery Raynor.
