Rev. Jeris (Snookie) Parsons, 65, of Lenoir, answered his call early Sunday morning on May 17, 2020.
He was born in Wilkes County on August 8, 1954. He was born to the late Edward A.Y. Parsons and Marybelle Parsons Moore. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Coleman (Clara) Parsons of Boomer, NC; a brother, Bishop Edward (Barbara Gayle) Parsons Jr. of Shelby, NC; a sister, Marilyn (Gary) Parsons Mitchell of Lenoir; and a son, Travis Bennett of Stony Point, NC.
Rev. Parsons leaves behind a lovely wife, Rev. Mrs. Karen Parsons of the home; four sons, Jeris Jr. (Anglea), Julian, Jaylin and James (Crystal); two daughters, Ebonni and Carinda; two brothers, Ivan (Terri) Parsons of Taylorsville, NC and Thomas Ferguson of Lenoir, NC; three sisters, Eadie (Vernon)Odom of Taylorsville, NC, Sherry Connelly of Taylorsville, NC, and Gloria (Chris) Hendrix of Lenoir; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Rev. Parsons served as a Lineman and General Chauffeur in the Vietnam War for the United States Army.
He was the pastor of Locke Street Church in Salisbury for six years. He was an Ordained Minister of the Church of God. Rev. Parsons served in ministry at Highways to Hedges Ministry with Pastor James Wilfong. He was a truck driver for 46 years and was Chaplin of Post 231. He ministered in song with the Gospel Mellotones, The Gospel Messengers, and the Gospel Harmonizers.
A receiving of friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Pendry’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be private.
