Jerry was born July 5th,1958, in Shelby, NC and moved to Lenoir for a job from Job Corp. He was a gentle giant with a generous heart of gold, never hesitating to help people out. His wife of 42 years stayed by his side throughout all of his days from the time they met. His children loved and respected him for who he was, how he protected, guided, and provided for his family and loved ones.
Because he was always a kind man, his nieces and nephews adored him and those he helped raise along the way with his wife. He was known for his friendliness and never hesitated to let people know that he was there for them. Jerry loved sports and was best known as the #1 fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also had a love for the UNC Tarheels and Los Angeles Lakers. Any given day, you would always see him watching sports and eating watermelon. From playing football, being a great example to others, creating a great life, Jerry is well known for being the person that whatever he sets his mind to do, he was determined to get done. He was employed with JBS for 15 years where he served sick or well, rain, sleet, or snow. Jerry made many friends until he could no longer work. Prior to that he worked at Singers/Broyhill for over 25 years. Jerry was a very dedicated worker and several times he progressed to a lead position in his furniture career because of his ethics and hard work.
He will be truly missed by all.
