In addition to his parents, John was proceeded in death by his daughter Donna Kay Wilcox, granddaughter Denise Ricci, great-granddaughters Alexus Phillips and Christian Ricci, brothers Lester, Grant, Eller, and Bob Wilcox, and sisters Jean Wilcox, Faye Wilcox, and Evon Trivette.
Left to cherish John’s memory are his companion of 46 years Shirley Wagoner, his children Dennis Wilcox (wife Debbie) of Hudson, Dallas Wilcox (wife Dawn) of Lenoir, Dean Wilcox (wife Kathy) of Lenoir, Vanessa Holtsclaw of Hudson, and Vivian Wilcox (husband Rodney Samson) of Lenoir, 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
John was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Lenoir. He was the founder of Wilcox Cabinet and worked in furniture his whole life. He was an avid horseman, a delicate gardener, and a talented craftsman. He loved talking with people, roller skating, and most of all his Lord and Savior.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Pendry’s Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Pendry’s Funeral Home with Rev. Allan Barlow officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Wilcox, Dallas Wilcox, Jr., Matthew Wilcox, Austin Wilcox, Josh Wagoner, and Casper Perez.
