Judith Von Barlow

Judith Von Euliss Barlow, 74, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on January 3, 2015, following a short and unexpected illness. “Judy” was born May 25, 1940 in Hickory, North Carolina, to Ned H. Euliss, Sr. and E. Lucille Campbell. Judy graduated from Hickory High School, after which she devoted her career to the health care and rest home industry. She owned and operated Camelot Manor, a nursing care and rehabilitation facility, Brockford Inn, an assisted living facility in Granite Falls and Royal Apothecary Pharmacy. She operated these facilities with such love and compassion it profoundly impacted not only the senior citizens in her care, but their families and her employees. Judith was always a champion of those less fortunate, offering not only financial aid when needed, but emotional support and opportunity.

She really enjoyed her work and put retirement on hold while she provided care to the chronically ill, elderly and their families. Judy was a member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church. She also loved spending time with her family, two Yorkshire Terriers, Major and Sailor, and her cat, Prissy. She loved to fish, cook and travel with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Barlow.

Judy leaves behind a daughter and her best friend, Jennifer Gates of Lenoir, NC; a son and daughter in law, Mike Miller, wife Beth, of Boone, NC; a sister, Barbara Stewart of Statesville, NC; a brother, Ned H. “Chip” Euliss, Jr. of Jamestown, ND; two grandchildren, Brock Gates of Lenoir, NC and Ashley Miller Nicol of Chapel Hill, NC; a great granddaughter, Sloan Nicol she is also survived by numerous other relatives.

A memorial service for Judith will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the St. James Episcopal at 4:00 PM with the Reverend Doctor Henry Patterson and the Reverend Deacon Melissa Eggers officiating.
