
Mrs. Sanders was born in Caldwell County to the late Ed Nelson and Ella Harriett Smith Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Marshall Sanders; two sons, Thomas “Tommy” Sanders and Daniel “Danny” Alvin Sanders; three brothers, John Nelson, Ed Nelson and James Nelson; and five sisters, Nellie Nelson, Betina Johnson, Pauline Halloway, Mary Wheeler, Ruth Haynes, and Maude Holsclaw.
Mrs. Sanders enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She will be truly missed by her family and those who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Marshall Lewis Sanders and wife Rhonda of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Jo Ella Bradshaw and husband Richard, and Shannon Sanders White and husband Mike, all of Lenoir. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Lynn Sanders (Vickie), Marla Fields (Mike), Tim Sanders (Jeana), Tammy Norman (Mike), Gina Travis (Alan), Terry Miller (Holly), Heather Sellers (Daniel), Kristin Sanders and Kaitlin Sanders; nine great- grandchildren and two great- great- grandchildren. Two sisters also survive, Helen Williams of Mississippi, and Jean Hamby of Lenoir.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 1st, 2012 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Pendry’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, at Pendry’s Chapel with the Rev. Tim Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family would like to express their appreciation to all the staff, nurses, chaplains, etc. of Caldwell County Hospice & Palliative Care and the staff of Lenoir Healthcare. Thank you all for being there for our family and taking great care of our mother.
