Polly was born on April 23, 1937 in Mecklenburg County to the late Marshall Howell and Cleo Osborne Howell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Blickley and Pansy Scruggs and a brother, Paul Edward Howell.
Polly was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a long time member of Yadkin Baptist Church and was baptized there in 1952. Polly loved to laugh and have a good time. She had a heart for caring for others, with her home being a place where everyone felt loved and welcomed. Polly enjoyed trips to the beach, family gatherings and spending time with friends playing cards and going out for dinner. Her Thanksgiving dressing recipe was always a crowd favorite, and Christmas was made more special because of the time and love she put into the details.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 66 years, Steve Edmiston of the home, her daughters, Sharon Benge and husband Richard of Lenoir, Teresa Buelin and husband Jim of Bethlehem, brothers and sisters, Walter Howell of Lenoir, Phyllis Woods of Lenoir, Jerry Howell of Charlotte, Herbert Howell of Lenoir, Faye Storie of Lenoir and Brenda Yates of Wilkesboro.
Also left to cherish her memory are her beloved grandchildren, Greer Taylor and husband Winslow, Craig Benge and fiancé Brittany Holton, great-grandchildren, Wynne Taylor and Stephens Taylor, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A graveside service to honor Polly will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11:00 am at Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Stuart White officiating.
