Sonja Marie Sanders

She was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina to the late Willie Wilson Randolph and Carrie Mae Whitener on March 28, 1937.

In addition to her parents, Sonja was preceded in death by her husband Wiley Sanders, five brothers, four sisters and two great grandsons, Zachary Haynes and TJ Sanders.

Those left to cherish Sonja memory are her children Vanessa Sanders of Hudson, Sonja Greer (Reggie), Robert Sanders, Teresa Crouch (Jerry), and Sheila Brookshire (Greg) all of Lenoir, sister; Maxine Lail of Granite Falls, two brother-in-laws; Charles Oakes of Hickory, and Brian Philbeck of Boiling Springs, 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

A graveside service will be held at 6 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
